Call of Duty 2024 title
Call of Duty 2024 is called Black Ops 6, as confirmed by Call of Duty on X.
Despite previous reports stating the game could be called Black Ops Gulf War, we have official confirmation that the game will be called Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. That said, the game has been confirmed to be set during the Gulf War period.

Black Ops 6 release window
Black Ops 6 is expected to arrivein October 2024, asInversereported Xbox’s Phil Spencer told employees that “it would be safe to assume another Call of Duty will arrive this October.” This has also been shared by Insider Gaming and The Verge.
This report falls in line with the usual release pattern of recent Call of Duty releases, arriving in late October or early November.
Black Ops 6 expected platforms
According to a leaked GameStop listing for Black Ops 6 preorders, the game will be available on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, and PC.The rumor was further corroborated by Insider Gaming, who suggested that the listing is real and that Black Ops 6 is going to be a cross-gen title.

Activision are yet to confirm the platforms Black Ops 6 will be available on, so nothing is set in stone until the devs reveal it themselves.

According to Bloomberg, the Warzone dev team is expected to take over the game’s campaign, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet.

The Gulf War was from August 2, 1990, to February 28, 1991. In the Black Ops 6 VHS teaser, these dates can be seen, as it references the “1991 Financial Report” and political figures of the time such as George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Margaret Thatcher.
According to a Windows Central report, the 2024 title could “lean back into more traditional military combat technology and familiar Black Ops gadgetry as opposed to the current and near-future tech we’ve seen from Modern Warfare and some other recent Call of Duty titles.”
Black Ops 6 campaign details
The official imagery on the Black Ops 6 website confirmed that fan-favorite character Adler, one of the main characters in 2020’s Black Ops Cold War, is set to return. A fictional TV show called “Frank’s Woods” also pops up in the VHS tape teaser, which is a clear hint at a possible return for the Black Ops character Frank Woods.
Additionally, on February 5 Insider Gaming shared that the story mode of BO6 will reportedly be a Far Cry-style open-world experience including fast travel systems and vehicles.

Black Ops 6 leaked early access
According to a Windows Central report, Activision is discussing a “large pre-order early access bonus” for Black Ops 6, which would include “several days for the base game, and maybe evenweeksfor access to other modes.”
Starting with MW2, Activision allowed players to access the campaign a week early. Now, Activision could try to grant players the possibility to access the full base game and certain modes much earlier, encouraging players to pre-order the game.
Black Ops 6 Zombies leaks
Round-base returns & Outbreak 2
ActivisionBlack Ops Cold War was Treyarch’s last CoD game to include the traditional round-based Zombies.
Additionally, Windows Central’s article shared that with Treyarch’s return for Black Ops 6, the classic round-based Zombies is also set to come back.
Even though MW3’s Zombies mode has received favorable responses, fans are eagerly anticipating a traditional survival Zombies experience, a realm in which Treyarch is regarded as the founding father.
Further, popular Zombies content creator MrDalekJD shared some leaks regarding the undead mode for BO6, claiming that there could be two round-based maps at launch, as well as a separate mode.
Leaker ‘alanthethird_90’ on X shared datamined code from Modern Warfare 3 about BO6’s Zombies mode that referred to similar elements from MW3’s Zombies mode, which suggests that the open-world extraction format could be returning alongside the classic round-based format.
Perhaps this will be the rumored second version of Outbreak from Black Ops Cold War.
Wonder Weapon, new enemy & setting leaks
Leakers have also found code that provides details on the potential Wonder Weapon for BO6 Zombies. The datamined code hinted at a new Wonder Weapon that could be similar to the KT-4 from Zetsubo No Shima, as well as a new “tentacle dog” enemy type.
According to MrDalekJD, the Zombies mode will be set in the 1990s, after the events of the Cold War. Keep in mind that this is still just speculation and leaks, so take it with a pinch of salt for now.
Black Ops 6 game engine
Following MW2, Warzone, and MW3, every future Call of Duty game will be developed under “one unified engine” — an advanced version of the IW engine.
Speaking to the Washington Post, Call of Duty’s then-General Manager Johanna Faries confirmed that even though the next Black Ops will be on the same engine as the Modern Warfare titles, it will still feel different, as they want Treyarch games to feel like Treyarch games and MW games to feel like Modern Warfare.
