RESPONSIBILITIES

  • ODOS (Office of Dean of Students) Brand and Communication Strategy
    • Departmental-wide lead and gatekeeper, ensuring consistency, quality and effectiveness of delivery of ODOS' key communications messages internally and externally.
    • Build ODOS' brand and reputation by collaborating closely with Dean of Students (DOS) and ODOS Unit heads to understand their communication needs and objectives, to develop the communications strategy and detailed action plan and activities for each unit, including identifying publicity opportunities across digital and print platforms.
    • Effectively connect ODOS activities, programmes and initiatives to the overall SMU key strategic initiatives, as well as harmonising plans and messaging of the ODOS units.
  • Marketing and Communications
    • Co-ordinate and manage annual communications schedule.
    • Collaborate with ODOS units in creating and implementing campaigns, coordinating campaigns across various channels to ensure a unified brand experience, as well as regularly monitoring campaign performance and making data-driven adjustments for continuous improvement.
    • Evaluate the success of various communication strategies and provide and implement recommendations for improvement.
    • Manage ODOS' website / webpages, including copy updates, liaison with designers / developers, including posting of announcements on relevant sites.
    • Craft ODOS' e-newsletter, DOS' messages, announcements and information messages to students, in collaboration with other offices or agencies, internal or external, as required.
    • Prepare and produce required reports to management and external agencies.
    • Proactively generate and implement effective communications in a timely manner to drive awareness of programmes, events, initiatives and activities on a regular and ad hoc basis.
    • Leverage copywriting skills to create compelling content for articles, social captions, and various marketing materials, including supporting video production for ODOS units and events.
    • Preparation, production and distribution of all publicity material and collateral; writing, editing, liaising with key staff members and proofing all copy.
    • Collaborate with student leaders to guide and support marketing/communications efforts in ODOS events/projects.
    • Develop and maintain an archival system and process to support communications objectives.
    • Serve as the primary liaison between ODOS and OCCM to maintain brand consistency, and work in partnership with OCCM to provide guidance on university-level branding policies as well as advice on communication strategies.
  • General Tasks and Duties
    • Support the organisation and execution of programmes/activities/events at the department level, including (but not limited to) sustainability and student wellbeing initiatives.
    • Contribute to the operationalization of ODOS initiatives/programmes.
    • Manage working relationships with other units, offices and external parties to the highest degree of professionalism.
    • Attendance and minutes taking at regular and ad hoc meetings.
    • Perform general administrative and finance functions, including attending to email enquiries.
    • Any other roles and responsibilities as assigned by the Reporting Officer.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree with at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong communications skills , both written and verbal. Strong ability to copywrite, proof-read and write for a wide variety of channels and audiences, adapting style and messaging appropriately.
  • Strong collaboration skills - ability to work with colleagues across a range of skills and expertise to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Able to work independently to organise, plan and manage projects simultaneously, as well as a team player with the ability to effectively engage with team members of all levels and across departments.
  • Adaptable, resourceful, and with strong organisational skills - work well under pressure and deliver high-quality communications under tight deadlines, with excellent attention to details.
  • Able to multi-task and work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing requirements and shifting priorities.
  • A keen sense of ownership and accountability and act with a sense of urgency to meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience in managing digital and social media marketing campaigns, events management, websites, content and marketing collateral development will be advantageous.
